How to export a LINE chat as a text file
LINE can save the history of any chat as a plain text (.txt) file. It’s a few taps on your phone, and then LINE asks how you want to send the file.
- 1
Open the chat
Open the chat you want to save.
- 2
Tap the menu icon
Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat.
- 3
Tap “Settings”
In the menu, tap “Settings”.
- 4
Tap “Export chat history”
Tap “Export chat history”.
- 5
Choose how to send it
Pick how you want to send the file. Send it somewhere you can open from the device you’ll upload with.
- LINE saves the chat history as a text (.txt) file.
- The same steps work on an iPad or Android sub device.
- On LINE for Windows or Mac, open the chat and click “Save chat”. Only the messages currently shown in the chat are saved.
- A text file can’t be used to restore your chat history in LINE.
Got the .txt file? Upload it to HeyMarco and let Marco read it. The preview is free, and your messages are deleted after seven days.
