How to export a WhatsApp chat with photos
Want the photos along with the messages? Both iPhone and Android can include media in a chat export; the option just has a different name on each.
- 1
Open the chat
Open the one-to-one or group chat in WhatsApp.
- 2
iPhone: open the export
Tap the contact or group name, then “Export chat”.
- 3
iPhone: include the media
Choose “With all media”, or “With selected media…” to pick only some of it.
- 4
Android: open the export
Tap the three vertical dots (“More options”), then “More” and “Export chat”.
- 5
Android: include the media
Tap “Include media”.
- 6
Save or share the file
Choose where the export goes, for example “Save to Files” on iPhone, or Quick Share or Gmail on Android.
- On iPhone the whole export, messages and media, arrives as one ZIP file.
- On Android, “Include media” attaches the most recently sent media rather than every file in the chat.
- View once messages are never exported.
Upload the export to HeyMarco and let Marco read it, photos included. The preview is free, and your messages are deleted after seven days.
