How to make a report private
Anyone you send a report’s link to can open it. Make the chat private and only you and the people you let in can open its reports, photos and numbers, whatever link they have.
- 1
Choose private when you upload
In the last setup step, under your email, tick “Make it private: only people I let in can open it”. The chat is private from the moment it is saved.
- 2
Or make a report you already have private
Open your report and tap “Make private” at the top (only you see it), or go to “Who can open this chat” on the chat’s page. Switch “Private” on. It covers every report on the chat, its photos and its numbers.
- 3
Invite people by email
Type their email addresses and tap “Send invites”. Each person gets their own link, and it opens the chat on the first phone or browser they use it on, so a forwarded email lets nobody else in. Send an invite again or remove someone at any time.
- 4
Or set a passcode
Set a passcode of at least 4 characters and pass it on yourself. Anyone with a link and the passcode can open the chat. Change or remove it whenever you like; “Remove them” takes out everyone who got in with it.
- 5
Answer requests to get in
Anyone else who opens a link sees “This report is private” and can ask to get in. If you gave your email when you uploaded, you get an email, and the request also shows on the chat’s page: tap “Let in” to send them an invite, or dismiss it.
- 6
Turn it off any time
Switch “Private” off and anyone with a link can open the chat again. The people you let in are remembered, so switching it back on lets the same people in.
- Link previews in WhatsApp and other apps show only “A private report”, never the chat’s name or what Marco wrote.
- You always get in on the phone you uploaded from, and on any phone where you open your private edit link.
- Making a chat private also works for reports written before you switched it on.
Upload a chat and tick “Make it private” in the last step, or open one of your reports and make it private now.
